Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis is closing in on its $100 million capital campaign goal to fund construction of a new hospital building. Mangan Holcomb has been the marketing partner in this effort since it began in 2005. With astonishing community support bolstered by a tremendously successful and multilayered marketing communications program, Le Bonheur is realizing its goal and broke ground on the new building in January 2008. The new facility was topped out April 8, 2009, marking a construction milestone.
To succeed the nationally award-winning “Common Thread of Exceptional Care” campaign, Mangan Holcomb created a new campaign centered around the construction of the new Le Bonheur Children’s. We launched the campaign with a series of enormous (and we do mean e-nor-mous) building-sized banners to wrap the existing hospital and construction site. Some more than six stories high, the banners portray actual patients’ faces and appear to be attached to the building by refrigerator magnets spelling out the message “We’re building for” followed by a child’s name. The design concept was also applied to print ads and a transit wrap. (Pediatric cardiologist Dr. Rush Waller offered his personal SUV to be wrapped and dubbed it the “Le Bonheur Utility Vehicle” or L.U.V.)
