Gaines House Dinner to Honor Leslie Rutledge with the Sandra Wilson Cherry Award
The Board of Directors of the Gaines House, a local nonprofit that serves homeless women in Arkansas, will honor Leslie Rutledge, Arkansas Attorney General, with the 2018 Sandra Wilson Cherry Award. The award will be presented on Feb. 8, 2018 and is named after the late Sandra Wilson Cherry, the former president of the Gaines House board who was an Assistant United States Attorney and the first woman to serve as president of the Arkansas Bar Association.
Rutledge is the 56th Attorney General of Arkansas, and is the first woman and first Republican elected to the office. “I am honored to be receiving the Sandra Wilson Cherry Award,” said Rutledge. “Cherry’s legacy is one I highly respect. To be given this award in her memory is an honor I do not take lightly.”
Rutledge has served as chairwoman of the Republican Attorneys General Association and vice chairwoman of the National Association of Attorneys General Southern Region. She co-chairs the National Association of Attorneys General Committee on Agriculture. Most recently, her colleagues voted Rutledge as the 2017-2018 National Chair of the National Republican Attorney General Association.
The award will be presented at the 2018 Sandra Wilson Cherry Award Dinner, chaired by Sharon Tallach Vogelpohl.
“We look forward to honoring Attorney General Rutledge with this award,” said Sharon Tallach Vogelpohl. “Her dedication to the people of Arkansas and leadership make her an excellent fit for this award.”
